Dan

You ask about how to send an MP3 audio file fire the Internet and I would have to ask is it that you want to send the audiophile to one person or are you planning to broadcast that audio file to many? If you just want to send it to one person then it would be good to know what size the file is. If it is a fairly small file and going to just one person then you could send that file by email. If that file is a larger file then I would suggest that maybe to use Dropbox and then to send the link to that file to the person. In any case using Dropbox as I have just suggested could also be good for just sending to one person, whatever the size of the file.

When I was audio podcasting on a regular basis are used to use a service that hosted my audio files, and I did it that way just to make sure that I didn't get hit by expensive bandwidth charges if the podcaster suddenly became popular. The company was called Libsyn and it was not too expensive.

What some people do to publish their audio files is to use one of the video sharing sites such as YouTube. You can save your work as a movie file with maybe just a single image. That is a solution that can work quite well. If you're doing it that way then it is very easy to get your file to where it needs to go to using your browser and it won't be necessary for you to use any FTP software. Another possibility would be possible if you have hosting for a website and you could send your media to that hosting. You may be able to upload files through the web browser although quite likely using FTP would be better.

Amadeus Pro is excellent software for creating and editing your audio files, but it does not include any facilities for you to be able to export or upload directly out of the application to an Internet location. So all you need to do is to create your file in Amadeus Pro, save it out as an MP3 format and then use these suggestions that I have made above to get the audio file where it needs to go to.

Hopefully some or all of the information I have provided above will be helpful to you. Please do contact me again with some more information on what it is exactly you want to do with specifics regarding the size and the expected distribution of your audio file. Maybe you have a website and you would like to publish audio file for your audience on your website. That can be done and if you use WordPress for your website I can suggest WordPress plug-ins that will do what needs to be done.

All the best and good luck, keep in contact to let me know how you sort out the problem.

Hi Dave,
First of all, thank you for all of your you-tube videos. It is not often that a person takes a sincere and passionate approach into helping others with their computer needs. When someone such as yourself takes a personal interest in teaching, tutoring or even serving as a cyber-mentor it means a lot to just more than myself. Your ambition is motivating and inspiring so please read my email with compassion and empathy for your time.

Here is a question that I can't seem to find an answer to; Regarding Amadeus Pro, How do I send an mp3 or wav audio file via the internet using Amadeus Pro? I've looked at your videos and am unable to find this procedure. I'm sure it's something simple for everyone but me. I'm inspiring to do voice overs and need to send audio files using the internet but have hit a brick wall when it comes to doing this portion of Amadeus Pro. Please help when you get a chance. I know I am imposing myself upon you but your teaching techniques are easy to follow and understand, that's why I came to you. Please simplify my life and tell me how to do it or post a video that I can follow. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my message and for all of the hard work you've done so far. Sincerely, Dan

Still standing at the start line
I wanted to get one more Superduper clone backup completed before I started on my mission of doing the nuke and pave on my iMac. I have an ancient one terabyte drive which has a very noisy fan within it and I called this into service. I started the clone of the drive at about 5 PM yesterday and at 1 AM in the morning when I went to bed it was still chugging away. It had finished making the clone successfully up this morning and because I had done a few other things with the computer while this was working I have to do another of my usual clone backups. Fortunately, with Superduper you get the option to do a Smart Update and it's only copies across those files that have changed compared to what is on the drive already. So this will only take a fraction of the time that the full clone backup took on that other drive.

I have just noticed that the speed of copying of the data with the drive I normally use is about 10 times faster than the drive that I used overnight. I think I may have to get rid of that drive.

Have videos to create
At first I was tempted to start finishing off a video I was making the day before yesterday, but I think I will wait until the computer is freshened up. I am happy now that just about all is in place. I have all of the serial codes for all of my software that is external to the Mac App Store safely tucked away in Appshelf. I have exported the data out of it to the Drobo in the AppShelf native format and also as the .CSV type of file. There are a couple of the applications which have files which are used to activate the licence and those are also embedded into Appshelf.

So many things to think about
Aside from going through the applications folder, I had to also check the system preferences. This is because one or two applications only reside in the system preferences. Then there are one or two applications that only reside in the menubar, so I had to make sure that I had all of those details as well as a list of what I had got.

Another thing that I just thought about are all of the bookmarks I have in the browsers. I should also make a note of the external extra applications added to Google Chrome browser. Mind you that might not be necessary as it might just sort itself out when I login to the new Chrome browser when I've done the update.

Hello David,

I just found your website and was very interested in your demo video of TotalFinder. As a newcomer to TotalFinder, your demo gave me some great tips and tricks. Thanks! One thing I did notice in the video was that when you have a TotalFinder window open in List view, all your columns are spaced nicely to fit the full width of your filenames. I know I can drag the column spacing manually, but how do I set the column widths in List view so that they dynamically change with each new Finder window to show the full filenames?

Looking forward to your reply
